MANOLA FIELDWORK

Manola Fieldwork is an initiative of Manola Studio exploring how a design practice might extend beyond the making of buildings. Through preservation, mentorship, research, and creative exchange, Fieldwork creates opportunities to look more closely at the places we inherit and consider what might be protected, shared, or carried forward.

KOBLICK ARCHITECTURE RESIDENCY
In collaboration with Site Specific, the restored 1937 Koblick House is offered to architects and designers for periods of concentrated study. The residency invites practitioners to experience Neutra’s architecture firsthand, through light, proportion, material, landscape, and space, as a counterpoint to an increasingly screen-mediated design culture

ARCHITECTURAL PRESERVATION CONSULTATION
Manola Studio offers preservation consultation for older homes and buildings throughout Southern California, helping owners, builders, and developers identify what is significant before it is altered or lost. The work is rooted in the belief that not every building needs landmark status to deserve careful attention

The programs take different forms, but begin with a common belief: that architecture has value not only as an object, but as a way of seeing. Fieldwork creates space for that knowledge to be experienced directly, passed between generations, and made more accessible to the communities and creative practices around us.

HOTEL WREN COMMUNITY FELLOWSHIP
A fellowship for young people in the High Desert, offering hands-on experience across the disciplines that shape Hotel Wren, from hospitality and landscape to design and guest experience. Through mentorship and practical experience, the program creates access to creative ways of working and a broader sense of what might be possible close to home.

HOTEL WREN ARTIST RESIDENCY
A residency for artists, designers, writers, and makers to spend uninterrupted time in the High Desert developing new work. Centered on the value of spaciousness, the program offers time, landscape, and distance from ordinary demands as conditions for attention, experimentation, and exchange.
