MANOLA FIELDWORK
KOBLICK ARCHITECTURE RESIDENCY
In collaboration with Site Specific, the meticulously restored 1937 Koblick House opens periodically to architects and designers for concentrated study. An early work by Richard Neutra, the house offers the rare opportunity to experience an important work of modern architecture slowly and from within, observing how proportion, light, material, landscape, and movement reveal themselves over the course of a day. The residency is simply an invitation to spend time with a remarkable building and allow close observation to become a form of learning.
Manola Fieldwork extends the studio’s practice through preservation, community, and creative exchange. It comes from a belief that our responsibility to place reaches beyond what we design, and includes tending to the architecture, histories, and cultural fabric we inherit, supporting the communities we are part of, and creating space for knowledge, creativity, and time to be shared. Fieldwork is our way of contributing to the larger tapestry of the places and communities we inhabit.
PRESERVATION CONSULTATION
Manola Studio offers preservation guidance for older homes and buildings throughout Southern California. We work with owners, builders, and developers to understand what gives a place its character before changes are made, from original materials and proportions to construction details and less obvious pieces of local vernacular. The intention is not to freeze buildings in time, but to identify what is worth carrying forward and find thoughtful ways for old places to continue evolving with the lives lived inside them.
HOTEL WREN COMMUNITY FELLOWSHIP
The Hotel Wren Community Fellowship invites young people from the High Desert into the many disciplines that come together to shape a place like Wren. Through paid work, observation, and time alongside members of our team, fellows can explore hospitality, landscape, design, making, and the everyday stewardship of a small hotel. It is an opportunity to gain real experience, encounter different kinds of creative work, ask questions, and perhaps discover an interest or direction of their own.
HOTEL WREN ARTIST RESIDENCY
The Hotel Wren Artist Residency offers artists, designers, writers, and makers the simple gift of time and space for creative work. Set within the quiet of the High Desert, the residency provides room to step outside ordinary rhythms, follow an idea without urgency, and allow observation, experimentation, or rest to lead where it may. There is no prescribed outcome. The offering is simply a beautiful place, uninterrupted time, and the freedom to make use of both.
