Originally built in 1963 as a roadside motel in Ojai, the Capri Hotel was reimagined in collaboration with Shelter Social Club, retaining the ease and informality of its midcentury origins while giving the property a more distinct architectural identity.

Working within the existing structure and a deliberately modest material palette, Manola Studio used proportion, repetition, color, texture, and custom detailing to create visual richness without relying on precious materials. Curved forms, millwork, furniture, and collected design pieces introduced softness and character to the motel’s straightforward geometry.
