Manola Studio is a multidisciplinary design studio founded in 2011 with the intent to create meaningful spaces that transcend time and honor their architectural history and landscape. JOB POSITION: DESIGN ASSISTANT

We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile Design Assistant to join our team . This full-time, temporary position will last for 6 months, specifically to help complete a hospitality project in the high desert, with the potential for extension based on project needs and performance.

We are looking for someone that thrives wearing many hats, is both left brain and right brain, and is excited to support a creative team in many aspects of the design process, support the Principal intimately in the studio and personally, as well as keep the office running smoothly day-to-day. Candidates should be highly motivated, have a problem solving mindset, and an exceptional level of organizational and time management skills. At the core, you should have an interest in design and hospitality, be eager to support a creative team, and elevate the overall profile of the studio, its ventures, and relationships through a thoughtful and professional approach to your work. We are a small, dynamic team and this role requires someone with confidence and enthusiasm to dive into many facets of project management, logistics, communications, and record-keeping to keep things optimized and moving forward.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide administrative support, including managing correspondence, scheduling with vendors, fabricators, and cataloging studio items.

  • Maintain internal project management software, project inventory, and specification spreadsheets.

  • Assist with technical and design-related research, sourcing materials, ordering samples, and supporting design presentations.

  • Manage studio operations, including organizing meetings and maintaining an organized studio space.

  • Suppot in coordinating project installations, photoshoots and styling.

  • Assist in the coordination of opening the hotel, including sourcing furnishings, decor, and other necessary items.

  • Manage logistics related to the hotel site, which is located 2.5 hours away, including coordinating deliveries and on-site visits.

  • Support in setting up operational processes and systems for the new hotel.

  • Help with organizing and executing on-site installations and final touches to ensure a seamless opening.

  • Support the Principal with professional and some personal tasks and errands.

  • Contribute to office culture by providing snacks during meetings, stocking the pantry weekly, and planning studio outings and celebrations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-3 years of professional experience in a design or creative office environment

  • Solid working knowledge of Google Suite & Adobe Creative Suite

  • Proven attention to detail, with excellent organizational and technical skills

  • Candidates should be extremely well organized, thoughtful, detail and service oriented

  • Candidates should be able to determine priorities, take ownership of tasks, and exhibit a high level of initiative, integrity, and follow-through in a dynamic environment

  • Established success working on multiple tasks/projects as the same time

  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills

  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of the firm, clients, and subcontractors

  • Design skills, a degree in a creative field and/or a passion for design are a huge plus!

SALARY & BENEFITS:

  • Contracted full-time position for 6 months, with the potential for extension based on project needs and performance.

  • Hourly rate: $25 - $28 per hour, commensurate with experience.

  • Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays provided on a prorated basis for the 6-month duration.

  • In-office position based in our East Hollywood studio, with occasional remote work as determined by the Principal.
