Home is where the art is
Manola Studio was founded in 2011 with the intent to create meaningful spaces that transcend time and honor the buildings that house them. Our fresh and playful approach to design is multidisciplinary and ranges from architectural and interior design to custom furniture and fixtures. We also specialize in preservation and restoration of historically significant buildings, infusing new life and charm into the neighborhoods they occupy. Our work is underscored by the desire to create spaces that make people feel connected to time and place - that inspire them and evoke a sense of comfort and familiarity, like they always belonged.
Manola Studio founder, Jessica Pell is a Los Angeles native and graduate of Art Center College of Design. She received an Honors degree in Environmental Design with a focus in Architecture and Furniture. It was while in school, that Pell had the remarkable opportunity to reside at Rudoplph Schindler’s Sachs Apartments, lesser known as Manola Court.
Nestled on a steep hill, stretched between two streets and surrounding a central garden, Manola Court demonstrates a harmonious interdependence between site, light, form, and materials. It was these poetics of space that Pell studied day in and day out for eight years that became a pivotal point in shaping her architectural philosophy and laid the foundation for the work she does today. Now our studio’s namesake, the richness of Manola Court continues to inspire, with its spirit at the heart of our philosophy and practice.
